Danmarks Meteorologiske Institut eller DMI (fra 1. april til 1. januar Meteorologisk Institut[1][2]) er et institut beneath Klima-, Energi- og Forsyningsministeriet,[3] der varetager de meteorologiske samfundsopgaver inom kongeriget land herunder rigets omliggende farvande og luftrum. Institutionen etableredes i beneath det daværende Marineministerium.

Opgaver

Institutionens opgaver er mange og omfatter bl.a.:

  • prognose- og varslingstjeneste, herunder udsendelse af vejrudsigter
  • overvågning af vejr og klima, herunder udsendelse af vejrmeldinger og miljømæssige forhold inom atmosfæren
  • indsamling og bearbejdning af meteorologiske, klimatologiske og oceanografiske målinger og af beslægtede geofysiske parametre
  • overvågning og udforskning af drivhuseffekten og stratosfærensozonbalance
  • DMI har ett iscentral inom Narsarsuaq, liksom varetager isobservations- og ismeldetjeneste for dem grønlandske farvande.
  • DMI varetager den meteorologiske betjening af den civile luftfart inden for rigsfællesskabet, bl.a. baseret vid norm

    The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (Swedish: Sveriges meteorologiska och hydrologiska institut, SMHI) is a Swedish government agency and operates under the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise.[1] SMHI has expertise within the areas of meteorology, hydrology and oceanography, and has extensive service and business operations within these areas.

    On 1 January , Statens Meteorologiska Centralanstalt was founded,[2] an autonomous part of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, but the first meteorological observations began on 1 July It was not until that the first forecasts were issued. The latter will be broadcast on Stockholm radio from 19 February [3]

    In , the Hydrographic Office (Hydrografiska byrån, HB) was created. Its task is to scientifically map Sweden's freshwater and collaborate with the weather service in taking certain weather observations such as precipitation and snow cover. In , the two services merged and became the Statens meteorologisk-hydrografiska anstalt (SMHA).[3]

    The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI; Danish: Danmarks Meteorologiske Institut) is the official Danishmeteorological institute, administrated by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities. It makes weather forecasts and observations for Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.

    The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) was founded in , primarily through the efforts of Ludwig A. Colding. DMI integrates the expertise of three predecessor organizations: the former Meteorological Institute, the Meteorological Service for Civil Aviation, and the Meteorological Service for Defence.

    • The Meteorological Institute was established in under the Ministry of the Navy.
    • The Meteorological Service for Civil Aviation began operations in as part of the Civil Aviation Administration.
    • The Meteorological Service for Defence was created in

    The current DMI was formed in through the merger of these three institutions. It operates under the Ministry of Transport and employs approximately staff members, in addition to around voluntary weather and climate observers.
